EU Directives

Ascott is fully committed to compliance with applicable EU Directives to its manufacture and after sales support of corrosion test chambers. These applicable EU Directives are:

European Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS)

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive aims to minimise the environmental impact of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) by reducing the quantities of four heavy metals and two brominated flame retardants which it may contain.
Products placed on the EU market on or after 1 July 2006 may not contain more than the specified limits of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
Ascott manufactured equipment fully complies with the RoHS Directive.
Further details regarding our compliance can be provided on request.

European Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

Registration number for UK WEEE Regulations: WEEKE0079UU

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) aims to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment, by increasing re-use and recycling and reducing the amount of WEEE going to landfill. It seeks to achieve this by making producers responsible for financing the collection, treatment, and recovery of waste electrical equipment, and by obliging distributors to allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge. Ascott manufactured equipment fully complies with the WEEE Directive and carries the crossed out wheelie bin symbol in confirmation of this. Further details regarding our compliance can be provided on request.

To this end we have put into place systems to, where possible, refurbish and recycle old Ascott chambers. If you have an old Ascott corrosion test cabinet or chamber you would like us to take back, or if you wish to enquire about the availability of a refurbished Ascott Chamber, then please contact us..

European Directive on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)

The Directive applies to most electrical and electronic apparatus, that is, finished products and systems that include electrical and electronic equipment. It aims to remove barriers to trade within the European Economic Area (that is, EU countries plus Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland) whilst ensuring that the electromagnetic disturbance generated by apparatus does not exceed a level allowing radio and telecommunications equipment and other apparatus to operate as intended, and that apparatus has an adequate level of intrinsic immunity to electromagnetic disturbance to enable it to operate as intended.
Ascott manufactured equipment fully complies with the EMC Directive. A certificate of conformity is provided to this effect and each new product carries the CE mark in confirmation of this.
Further details regarding our compliance can be provided on request.

European Low Voltage Directive (LVD)

This directive seeks to ensure that electrical equipment within certain voltage limits provides a high level of electrical protection. It covers electrical equipment designed for use with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1000 V for alternating current and between 75 and 1500 V for direct current. It should be noted that these voltage ratings refer to the voltage of the electrical input or output, not to voltages that may appear inside the equipment.
Ascott manufactured equipment fully complies with the LVD Directive. A certificate of conformity is provided to this effect and each new product carries the CE mark in confirmation of this.
Further details regarding our compliance can be provided on request.
